Introducing Vijay Govindarajan, ranked No.3 Management Thinker by the Thinkers50

Monday, 16 January 2012

Vijay Govindarajan, known as VG, is the Earl C. Daum 1924 professor of international business at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. He is one of the world’s leading experts on strategy and innovation. VG has published nine books including international bestsellers Ten Rules for Strategic Innovators and The Other Side of Innovation which focuses on how to turn an innovative idea into a successful commercial business. He was the first Professor in Residence and Chief Innovation Consultant at General Electric. VG is the originator (with GE CEO Jeff Immelt, and Chris Trimble) of the concept of "reverse innovation" where innovation takes place in emerging markets and then is brought back into developed countries. Harvard Business Review rated "reverse innovation" as one of the ten big ideas of the decade and is the title of his forthcoming book, (with Chris Trimble), to be published in April 2012. A blog written in 2010 by Govindarajan and Christian Sarkar challenging designers to create a house for $300 set off a campaign to reinvent housing for the world’s poorest people — which earned Govindarajan "The C.K. Prahalad Thinkers50 Breakthrough Idea Award."
